Kindle Touch, Wi-Fi, 6" E Ink Display Review

For my review, I will concentrate on the differences between the previous Kindle keyboard, Wi-Fi, 6 "E Ink display - includes special offers and sponsored screensaver (which is to refer me as the K3) and the Kindle Touch (KT )

USE - In relation to the reading experience, I like the contact compared to the physical buttons of the previous generation. At first I was afraid that I always turn the page accidentally touching the screen, but this has not become a big problem. The screen is divided into sections assigned, so that when you touch the left side, covering about 1 "on the left side of the screen, it goes to the previous page. If you are one of the other 80% of the screen to touch side that for the future. Touch the top a "margin, and open the menu. There is also a physical button on the bottom of the touch screen that serves as the start button and take you directly to the Start menu. The area where I found it very useful is the touch-dictionary. Before, when I wanted to see the definition of a word, I had the clumsy joystick used to navigate the text. When a word was in the lower end of the sentence, sometimes, usually I just ignore, rather than go through the trouble of pressing the joystick 15 times. With the touch, you can simply touch the floor and hold for about 1.5 seconds (so they know I'm not trying to turn the page) to access the dictionary, which is incredibly useful and time saving.
Underscoring and highlighting phrases works in the same manner. They hold the first word in the sentence, and after two or three seconds, then it recognizes what you're doing, and then drag your finger for the rest I have never used to do this before, but now I do it all the time. Ignite the fire handles the actual dictionary search better. Although this is probably one of the few things that the fire can do better than the touch in terms of electronic books. Changing drag a finger across the page or down the page changes, as he did with the Kindle keyboard, pointing to the next page. So there is a very short time. Change is not perfect and smoothly as you would expect with an iPad, or what if you move the mouse to do a website. This does not mean at all for me. A new X-Ray feature, you can click to open more ideas and common features of the book, but apparently only on selected titles, and none of my books, I could not prove it. The Kindle is not affected, you can switch the screen from portrait to landscape as does the basic Kindle. I have no idea why, but I would be surprised if this can not be fixed in a future firmware update.

Form Factor - Although the changes are quite small, they feel important. The KT is only 0.1 "less in width, and slightly more than half an inch shorter than the K3, but after several hours of operation, I feel like I keep more than one source can be the K3. I think the most important contribution is that the Kindle is one gram lighter than K3. This is a very clear difference in the K3. An ounce adds up after hours of partying ahead of you with one hand. I never had a real problem keeps the previous version, but this seems easier.

Real numbers side - the K3 shows only a percentage of the entire work or some strange "location" setting, which I never understood. The CT shows the current page number, regardless of what zoom setting it up. This is a big improvement for me, especially after I realized how difficult it is to be able to do this is.This does not work all the books, but most popular books that I checked to have it.
Loan of books - This is another breakthrough and one more reason to make the leap from regular books for Kindle. Finally, you can add to their books to other people with the Kindle. You can borrow a book once, and only for 14 days. I agree with that because I understand the need to combat piracy. My only problem is that the book must be eligible for this option and so far have not most of the books in my collection.
Display - still in the K3, with some improvements. The brief flash you get when the page (although I never noticed) turning while Kindle loads on the next page, is less common. This makes the Touch feel much more like a real book. Although the screen is monochrome, KT offers black and white images are very clear and takes photos and pictures very well. I tried to put out the fire Kindle, but I prefer the contact because of Kindle e-ink, which looks in my opinion much better than the text on the light, especially since I want to read for 4-5 hours at a time. Reading in sunlight compared with E-Ink display with a backlight is not a competition. It's the difference between night and day (pun intended). Newspapers, magazines, and all PDF files look better in the fire, though (albeit with some limitations, so you can see my review for the product). If your main goal is to read a Kindle, buy, I recommend the Touch Kindle Kindle on Fire.Although the E-Ink is associated should be improved in the K3, which is very easy, because I noticed almost no difference. Also photos more or less the same look on both devices. I uploaded several photos in the gallery, so you can compare the two.
Wi-Fi - which originally ordered the 3G version of Touch, and then stopped when I realized that almost never used. If you travel a lot and is a voracious reader who might be worth it. But if you have access to a computer is much easier to download a lot of books at once, so you always something available for reading when you finish your current book. You can save a lot of money for the waiver of the 3G option. If you do not have wireless, you can always transfer books via USB. If you want to save even more money, be sure to order the Kindle with special offers. Not only save $ 40, but most people I've actually seen that you prefer. The offers are very discreet, and after a few months with the regular Kindle, you get tired of looking at this screen again and Agatha Christie. The offers are very useful and even pay for themselves. If Amazon adds new screensaver every few weeks for your own, maybe not so bad, but they get boring after a while.Trust me on this, and receive the Hot Deals.
Battery - Advertised as 2 months. Battery seems on par with the K3, which was announced over 2 months. Note: If you add a cover, like the Kindle Leather decrease with a light hand, Black Battery life, as it is fed from the device, but is still overwhelmingly in favor of an adequate electronic device. I can touch my Kindle leather cover illuminated purple wine for most of my reading and just use to my touch about every three weeks to calculate.

- Save the same as in the K3 4GB, you need about 3,000 books. The average 500-page book is about 500kb. In view of this unit also comes with access to storage facilities in the Amazon Cloud backup savings, I think it is very unlikely that someone has to save more than 3,000 books. If the unit is always full, just back from his old books in the cloud, and they are there if you ever want to come back again. 3,000 books on your Kindle makes things more difficult to handle when you have everything sorted into separate folders.

Text-to-speech and experimental features - the text to speech option on Kindle is pretty useless in my opinion. This is the same functionality as in the K3, and it's pretty hard on the automatic (usually) single voice reading his novels to be heard. I do not know many people who actually use this feature. The audio book is better, but I still think they are too expensive for me. The experimental browser is good to keep in a pinch, but is so slow and difficult to use (actually can not see anything, if you extend certain parts of the screen), I do not see anyone use it well. The touch function makes it much easier to use than the previous version that allows you to navigate through the links needed to move a cursor and a joystick, but the browser is still too slow to be useful. I will look at things occasionally with Wikipedia, but you can not have a real menu, extensive network with him. If you really want this feature, you should look into the fire Kindle. The MP3 Payer is back and has improved a lot, because now the artist and title of the song you can listen to see a visual display, but the feeling is definitely not to be confused with a real music player. I can use this feature often as background music while I read, or sleep when I'm going, because it consumes very little power.

Touch Capacity - This is where the unit shines. At first I thought it would be much better than the previous version, but I found the touch feature is very intuitive and useful than I thought. I like to use the built-in dictionary a lot, and a little pain when you move the joystick to K3 to the desired word and look up. With the touch, which only touch the ground and have it directly to the dictionary. This is a great feature. I also found it useful when I read books like the Lone Wolf 1: Flight from the Dark series, which has steadily with online links to different sections of the book to jump. Navigating with the KT is much faster and simpler than the previous generation. For anyone who reads a lot, I would say this is definitely a consideration of the renovation. The built in touch pad is not as fast as its predecessor, but is very well designed and the buttons are perfect. I have no problem with the lack of a physical keyboard.

Experimental Features - The MP3 player is designed to be a full-featured music device. Not included as the ability to play audio books may be added easily. The MP3 player with touch-Kindle has improved since the K3, as we now see a screen that displays artist and title, while the MP3 file. This makes navigation much easier. I use occasionally play classical music while reading or music as an ad-hoc device while driving, but do not expect a lot from him. The good news is that it consumes very little battery life compared to a traditional music player. The web browser included in the Kindle Touch is much better than the previous generation, but, like the MP3 player is not designed to be a fully functional browser. No plans to do for a long surfing the Web, but is handy when you need it in a hurry to get more information. Sample pages much better than the previous version browser and load faster. When is the 3G version to note that only you can access Amazon and Wikipedia it. You need to connect to Wifi, if you want to go somewhere else.

My only major problem with this new Kindle is that Amazon has decided not to include power supply with him. If you did not already own, or a computer, you can not turn on this unit! I do not know if they try to bring more people to profit by the Kindle from Amazon USA buy adapters to make are (is what you need to plug into an outlet) (Kindle, Kindle tactile keyboard Kindle, Kindle DX) separately, But this is completely ridiculous. Ignite the fire contained power supply, and no USB cable. The hint of Kindle includes a USB cable and require no power adapter.Who is responsible for this ridiculous decision? Amazon would not cost more than $ 2 to include the adapter. If you have a previous generation Kindle, the adapter works with this device. But I'm still very disappointed in Amazon for them. There will be thousands (millions?) Need from people looking for your adapter boxes to load this thing. And get rid of more people with their tablets and desktops that makes this even more important. If you do not already have an adapter or a computer connected to the USB device, add the Kindle from Amazon USA adapter (Kindle, Kindle tactile keyboard Kindle, Kindle DX) in your cart.

Overall, I definitely think that the Kindle touch an improvement over the Kindle 3 (Kindle keyboard). Probably not big enough improvement that I recommend that people replace their previous generation Kindle unless you really use it much, but at a reasonable price, it is almost hard not to.
